The Mungyeong Pass is one of my favourite places in all of Korea. I highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t been there to go there. It’s best if you go all the way from the first gate to the third gate, to get the full effect of the placebest yet if you can swing a visit in autumn, just when the leaves are changing colour, in perfect ?ค?????????? (?ฒœ?ณ??ง??น?; ch’ngomabi; “high skies ‘n’ fat horses”) weather. And don’t buy the myth that the old name for the pass, “Chorng” (?กฐ??น; ?ณ??ถบ) means that it’s so high that even birds don’t fly over it: they were out in full force at the summit when I was there….

Whoops, that should be “Choryng,” not “Chorng.” I guess old habits die hard (like not proofreading submissions before I submit them)!
