I think this article brought KJI’s remark about “Nuclear-free Korean peninsula”. The article basically iterated the U.S. position that, if NK continues to build nuke weapons, it is a matter of time for Japan and SK to match the threat.

China is finally getting the message.

Just went through the synopses of the first 100 hits out of 500 for Pittsburgh PG search function (search word: “Korea”). Went all the way back to March 29th, but I only found 1 or two other WSJ articles; didn’t find the one I was searching for (about US food aid to North Korea), so I guess PPG doesn’t routinely reprint them.

Didn’t know any newspapers “syndicated” (is that the right word?) WSJ articles; I should have thought of it I suppose, NYT and WP articles appear routinely in the local paper here. Maybe I can find a few other WSJ ones on Korea in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette archives.

If the United States actively discourages nuclear enrichment processing program in South Korea, it should do the same and discourage Japan’s as well. The article points out that the US hasn’t discouraged Japan - leading to my suspicion that the US wouldn’t really mind nor would be terribly upset if Japan does go nuclear. S.Korea snubbed again.
