Contrary to most posters here, I think the idea will work. A border patrol agent who shoots and kills an illegal Mexican, later finds out that her great,great parent actually came from Mexico. She is killing her own people, just to make a living. That will bring some understanding to U.S.-Mexico border problems.

You can also make a subplot about some border patrol agents befriending Mexicans, but later have to kill them when things get heat up. Then, they feel guilty about it and commit suicide or overdose.

I can see many parallel between JSA and the border situation. With some intense close-ups and gut-wrenching emotion, the movie could hit the national core. It may even end the border vigilantism.

This is simply unbelievable bad judgement. If they liked the idea so much but want to change the ploting to that degree, why not just use the original as a starting point for a different story!?

The news that JSA would be remade is a couple years old. But this new wrinkle makes it an unattractive movie date.

Curious is right about the lack of tension. And the irony of the two groups of sworn enemies just wouldn’t be there when Mexico and los Estados Unidos are allies.

Now, if anyone in Hollywood is reading this, I could see a situatin in Guantanamo Bay.

No, wait. No. This should somehow be brought back to Korea’s DMZ. I know that USFK doesn’t control P’anmunj??m anymore (right?), but you could make it retro, like in the 1980s or something.

Come on, Franzoni, ride the Korean wave all the way to the bank!
