japan officially denied complicity in the comfort women mobilization until the 1990s, so how could the money have been meant to cover that?

did it not matter whether it was known or not because the 1965 agreement was supposed to cover any and all claims?

He means sex slaves don’t you.

A quick fact.

Several devades ago, Japan paid out a large sum of compensation to South Korea, which was meant to cover a number of issues, including sex slaves. South Korea promptly spent most of the sex slaves compensation money on road and factory building and handed them a tiny cash sum.

My apologies. I read into your blurb about the numbers telling something a bit much. I’ve heard the kind of argument before so I assumed you were making the same point. But I don??t think subtracting ??tens of thousands?? would do much to the population. I suppose there could scenarios where the effect could be large but there??s really no point to discuss it further since its all hypothetical.

I think it??s funny how you say ??(tiny)?? credit for the population increase. To be honest, I don??t know enough behind the population argument. But to tell you something, I do think credit goes to Japan for getting its act together early on (i.e. modernisation) and I am not one to think everything was terrible on a day-to-day basis throughout the colonial period.

Nora - you made a comment that seemed to say Japan had not been responsible for ??Corea?? being changed to ??Korea??. Is that right? Where did you learn that? I??ve been told by countless Koreans that that??s exactly what happened and I??d like to know if I??ve been brainwashed.

Puhleeeze, this seems to crop up every few months, but this time it seems it’s been a longer while. I guess fishing for red herrings around Tokto has taken precedence.

but korean papers are condemning japanese as everyday ritual, flag burned, and being asked korean buyers for price reduction because of takeshima or textbook,while you are living in the us, korea town in la maybe, bitching about biase. just a small joke doent hurt anyone.
