Play that funky music, comrades!

Run over to Boing Boing.net and check out the flash movie produced by the DPRK’s state-run Korean Friendship Association to promote tourism to the Workers’ Paradise. Also check out the silliness that ensued when Boing Boing linked to it.

P.S. — Is it just me, or did the Korean Friendship Association actually rip off a scene from Park Chan-wook’s JSA for use in that flash movie?

I used to read boing-boing and suddenly, it is *really* slow from Korea. I wonder why . . . it’s a bit strange for them to advertise for tourism and, at the same time, show pictures of North Korean military parades in the same ad! I don’t think that is going to interest many people, especially those who might have allergies to nuclear material.

Yeah..they definitely hawked that pic from JSA. How strange to have a notable South Korean actor representing and North Korean soldier on their website.

I think they’re on to something here….Park Chung-Hee’s regime started promoting sex tours in South Korea to the Japanese in 1972, and the number of Japanese tourists jumped from 96,531 to 217,287. Now if they could just get over that pesky anti-Japan rhetoric….
