During his much-criticized (in the blogosphere, anyway) interview with MBC, Unification Minister Chung Dong-young did mention that his ministry would push measures to re-allow access to 32 pro-North Korean websites that were blocked by the Ministry of Information and Communication in November. Chung said he would try to free up sites “that were not particularly harmful” as soon as possible. Among the sites to which access will be re-allowed is the KCNA, much to the relief of Pyongyang watchers throughout the ROK.
See, maybe Minister Chung isn’t such a tool after all.

No, he’s still a tool . . . and “an ass,” as you put it. He didn’t do this out of any love for free speech, he did it to appease North Korea. He’d unblock them all, except that he’s also appeasing the GNP fanatics.
Thanks for the mar-mo-lanche, btw.
Heh, do I detect sarcasm in the article?
I wonder when Uridang will officially change their name to Rodongdang.
No sarcasm at all, except perhaps when I suggested that Chung is anything else other than a tool.
Actually, if you read the link to the post I made when the sites were originally banned (and its comments), you’ll see that I though the move to block the sites was an extremely bad one. So no, if I sound sarcastic in welcoming Chung’s decision to free up access to the KCNA and other pro-North Korean sites, I apologize, because I’m really quite serious.
Need to be careful with this one. After all, the ROK has the world’s smartest robot, which “learns” through the Internet, and we wouldn’t want Hanchongnyon hackers to find a way to feed nK propaganda into it. Remember the Cobra BATs (dating myself) in G.I. Joe? Could get ugly.
Honestly, attempts to block access were meaningless and harmful and, of course, un-demcratic. As a matter of fact, the NK sites are rather badly done, while there are much more sophisticated sites located in South Korea which deliver similar Stalinist/nationalist message (think of Minjok 21 and the likeminded crowd)
You may find it interesting to visit the sites in the field of ltrct
