Marmot, A very bright interview. You have my utmost respect for your admission of not knowing anything about Korea. In my short six years I know less.

I certainly don't deserve two plugs in another person's interview, but thanks anyway. Especially considering that Im not a Korea expert like Marmot.

As far as that goes, its amazing how much we agree on, and how insignificant the differences are. I'll give you all all disagreements on Korea just for our one agreement on China's possible collapse, though. But, just to nitpick anyway, I have to agree more with Noland's argument, that NK will muddle through for as long as it has to, especially if Seoul carries it. Second, I don't think that Korea in one form or another has any hope of being a great power (whatever that is), and I'd prefer to institutionalize the status quo in the region in the form of a mutual defense community/customs union.

Also (and I say this with all due respect), I'll buy Hunter Thompson, but Paul kennedy? I recall my Batman comics with more affection than even my IR texts, and I can read both on the toilet. Inquiring minds want to know more! Tell the truth!
