Photos from Phuket… or what’s left of it

A Frenchman in Phuket took about two pages worth of photographs of the aftermath of the tsunami that struck Phuket, Thailand on Sunday morning. Definitely worth checking out (Hat tip to dda).

One Korean, 33-year Lim Wu-jeong, was killed in Phuket along with his Malaysian wife. Their 6-year-old daughter is in critical condition. A 75-year-old grandmother has gone missing, 14 other Koreans have been injured, and contact has been lost with a number of other Korean tourists and expatriates in Thailand and Indonesia. I can only express my condolences to the families of those killed in this disaster and pray for the safety of those whose whereabouts are still unknown.

My friend Gilles at apjf (the link Marmot mentionned) tries to update every day the pages with new pictures, and tried to add some text. Too bad it’s all in French, I’ll try to get him to make some English available…

Apparently, the guy in charge of the French consular representation in Phuket is wildly unhappy with home base, as it appears that the Embassy in BKK is only concerned with putting our citizens back on planes, not helping them on the ground. You wanna stay, ask somebody else, or something like that…

    Another Tsunami Update…
Did you watch and read Korean survivors’s very shocking testmonies about this Tsunami disastor? Korean survivors said that Phuket natives(most of them were known as Phuket fishers) were busy snatching valuables from floating traveler’s bags and luggages. Korean survivors said that Phuket natives ignored people when the nearly drowning people cried out for help. Korean survivors also said that many people, who could have been saved, were dead because of Phuket natives’s ignorance and immorality. This might lead to another demonstration against illegal-staying East Asians in Korea. HAHAHA!

If I were a Phuket native I think I’d hate tourists too, esp the balding fat old white guys with little boys or the stuck-up twits with brit accents.

“If I were a Phuket native..”

But then, you’re not. You’re a proud American, saluting the stars and stripes, pledging allegiance to George W. Bush, and hugging your American passport daily.

    Right jivesy old boy?

How many times have you had to answer a question from a “real” Korean about why you betrayed your motherland to become a dirty inferior miguk saram?

Have anything to do with you not having the stones to do your military service?

So much easier to talk about loving the motherland than to actually love the motherland.

    Sincerely,

Fat old white guy who loves Fuckit

Are Korean netizens planning any boycotts or candlelight vigils against nature? I don’t need my Sierra Club calendar anymore. They can burn that if they want. Tectonics go home!!

    Wave toll ‘could exceed 100,000′.

The Bush Administration adds Mother Nature to the Axis of Evil for possession and use of a weapon of mass destruction.

Many Americans expressed bewilderment. Sri Lanka? Where’s that? Isn’t that a Muslim country?

US President George W Bush pledged to set up an international coalition, with Australia, India and Japan, to co-ordinate the relief effort.

The US earlier said it was more than doubling its pledge of funds to the region to $35m, and eventually $1 billion.

Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to spend an average of $9.5 million every hour on the war and occupation of Iraq to secure a steady supply of petroleum and pork barrel for Halliburton. In a global sense, the U.S. spends $1 million dollars a minute on war…a percentage of which helps create Third World poverty and the inability to deal with natural disasters.

Bluejives - Your rants about the Bush administration are even dumber and less original than your screeds on your main theme: Anti-Caucasionism. Stick to what you do best: Race-baiting and hypersensitive, mistaken reactions to criticism of Korea.

Halluburton had a profit of 15 million last year. The US government should have just given Halliburton a 15 million corporate welfare check. Then lifted the sanctions against Iraq to get the oil flowing so the US could get its dirty hands on it by buying it on the open market. It would have been so much easier. All I know is Cheney has the most loyalty to any X- company anyone has ever worked for.
