I got hit last night with a particularly nasty spambot that managed to leave more than 350 spam comments on my blog despite the fact that I caught it relatively early. With a little help from Wordpress forums and a lot of help from dda over at Headspin, the issue seems to have been resolved, but an unfortunate occurrence nevertheless. Dda wrote up a very nice human verification code for my blog, and those using Wordpress blogs should visit the forums and download the counter-spambot plugin lest something like this happen to you.
I don’t know who designs these spambots, but I’m pretty certain there is room reserved for them in the deepest reaches of Hell.

You were probably hit by our friends at Kornet who are the number two source of spam, phishing and virus injection in the world . . . or was it maybe the Korean Government out for revenge — oh wait, Kornet is a government organization too so . . .
I got hit too. I was going to write you and ask what you use, but I guess I don’t have to do that. The blacklist has been ineffective to say the least. Let’s hope this works.
Did you do something special to get yours to work? I activated the plugin to no result.
BTW, readers of Marmot’s interested in installing a similar challenge procedure on WordPress can contact me (ask Marmot for my email address, or contact me via my blog, there is an Email form).
