It only makes sense that this statue would over look the harbor he liberated. Also most Korean people in Incheon do not appear to have a problem with the statue because I have been to the park three times and each time there has been lots of people at the park hanging out on park benches, picnicking, and taking pictures of the statue. They were not protesting or writing graffitti on it. Near the McArthur statue there is also a large sculpture commemorating the friendly relations and alliance between the US and Korea.
