Light blogging until Monday

I’m heading off to Mongolia this afternoon, and I won’t be back until Sunday, so expect very little blogging from me personally over the next couple of days. Hamel may or may not have something in store for you guys, so check in every so often to see if anything new has been posted.

Also, I decided this evening to download myself a copy of the Mambo DMS, which came highly recommended by Joel Burslem in Ulsan, just to see what it was about — test site here. Just from what little I’ve been able to pick up, I can tell it’s a heck of a system, albeit so powerful I probably have no business fucking around with it. Anyway, I’m hoping somebody gets ambitious and ports a version of Wordpress for it like they did for the Xoops DMS, because it sure would be nice to integrate the WP’s blogging features with some of the other data management functions provided by Mambo.

    Check out Open Source CMS - they’ve got a slew of portals, blogs, photo managers, forums and e-learning software already configured.

    They let you play with all the software with a default username/password, and if you mess it all up - no worries - in an hour or so their server reinstalls that software, resetting all your mistakes.

    Or you can download software X, upload it to your host, configure it, play around with it, and figure out after all that work that it doesn’t have that special feature that you have with software Y or Z.

    Highly recommended.
