Robert Kim released

robert_kimConvicted spy Robert Kim has been let out of prison, and you’ll be happy to know he holds nothing against either the Korean or U.S. governments:

Still, Kim said he does not hold any grudges against the South Korean government.

“I don’t have anything (against the South Korean government),” he said. “I used to work for a government too, and there are certain things that a government can do officially and there are things that it cannot do officially. I know the South Korean government tried, but things don’t always turn out to be in the way it intended.”

Kim also said he does not hold anything against the U.S. government.

“I did what I had to do and the United States, as a law-abiding country, had to do what it was required to legally because there was an illegal side (to what I did). I just think (the sentencing) was a little too severe,” he said.

At this point, I direct you to Brian’s comments on the Joongang Ilbo’s ridiculous editorial on Kim over at Cathartidae. In addition, I’ve had to watch state-owned YTN’s report on this several times today, and the romantic background music against family photos and a statement by Kim on how he would like to come back to Korea made me want to throw stuff at my boss’s TV.

The Korean government seems to have a program to insure that Korean ??migr??s to the US are never fully accepted there. It constantly promotes its vision of a pan-Korean ethic, treats Korean-born US citizens like Korean citizens, etc. and otherwise tries to promote the dual loyalties at the root of Robert Kim??р꽓s case.

Robert Kim’s treason will compel everyone to question whether Korean born US citizens will ever consider the US their homeland, and to doubt whether they can ever be fully trusted to safeguard US interests.

OK, everyone can understand that the Korean government feels bad about having put Robert Kim in the spot he’s in by playing on his divided loyalties, and perhaps should compensate him in some way. But trying to make a hero out of a US commissioned naval officer who breached his oath of allegiance and the sacred trust in his fidelity is incredible and damages the reputation, hope and prospects of those Korean-born US Citizens who are serious about being Americans.

Well said. It is done under the cover of special “cultural exchange” programs for ethnic Koreans in other countries. But I think you are wrong about the “divided loyalties”, Jerry. Dual loyalty would be an improvement because Korea seems to be the undivided loyalty for many Koreans. Just look at the kyopo’s in Korea.

Does Jon Pollard’s treason put into question every Jew’s devotion to the US homeland? No.

    Why not?

Jung, is “why not?” an unfinished statement , or a question? If this was a question, then you did make a good point. If you want to know, Jon Pollard got life (25 years).

I don’t think people are questioning Korean-Americans because of Robert Kim, they are annoyed at how Koreans and the Korean press are responding to the Robert Kim case. If the government of Israel and the newspapers and pop singers were lobbying for a pardon for Jon, then people would rightly be annoyed at them.

The USA needs to keep a better eye on the Qoreans walking around the usa. I reccomend giving them a those little ankle bracelets that let the govt know where they are. Also, whats wrong with slowing or stopping all qorean immigration for a few years.

What is the USA going to do if there is a war with NK and all the Qoreans in LA start becomeing “sappers” and blowing up buildings.

    Just a few thoughts.

I think the black community in South Central are more than eager or capable to blow the buildings up in Koreatown before any “Quoreans” could do it. But be cautious, after the L.A. Riots of 1992 enough Korean-Americans are now members of the NRA and a Daewoo Fine Precisions USAS-12 semi-automatic shotgun can make BIG, BIG, BIG holes in whomever’s belly! Good luck…

Robert Kim. Did something for cowards who didn’t do anything for him in return. I don’t respect him. He broke the law to do what he did. He got off too easy, in my opinion. He keeps saying he understands that Korean government officials were not in a position to ask for his release or pardon, but I think the truth is that they never gave it a thought.

In the end, what he did made no difference for South Korean defense.

He became a US citizen, took the oath, and by that he should be ready to invade South Korea and shoot at South Koreans if that was required. An extreme case, of course.

But how is Robert Kim different from Arab Americans in the US military who killed US troops in the middle of the Iraq War?

Good point sappyshin, the Qoreans are armed and dangerous. The ATF needs to start dealing with them.

Its a sad thing that Qoreans hate blacks so much.

It’s a sad thing that a good portion of Afro-Americans and Korean-American communities hate each other due to social inequalities and cultural autism.

The APA needs to start dealing with you, Diarrhoea.

another good point. Qoreans love blacks in Qorea, its the USA’s fault that racism exists. I failed to notice that. We really should have coffie somtimes and discuss all the things that are great about Qorea and bad about the USA.

Korae has 4 seasons you know and 5000 years of history.

sappyshin you are wise. I am humbly your servant. I like your pet name for me “Diarrhoea”. I thnk i am falling in love

    Diarrhoea,

as long as you can’t manage to spell the official term for “Kore” or “Koreans” (no, buddy, you don’t have to use the “C”-word), I’ll address you with my lovely chosen pen name (not pet name, my dear Diarrhoea!). You know, I have a black belt in Scrabble-Do… just like you.

Btw, read my comment about the antagonism of the black and the yellow community in L.A. again. I blame the cultural autism and non-communication of and between both communities for the bitter state of relationship between the forementioned ethnic groups, who either reside in L.A. or are indeed US citizens.

Oh, please don’t long for my counter-love, it could be painful for you.

I’m hopefully waiting for change of your spelling-habit. Again, the correct spelling is: Korea and Koreans.

    Dangun’s bless for you.

Sallyshin, thank you for your help. I am pretty sure that DANGUN would want it spelled Qorea.

However, there is lots of Qoreans that spell Qorea with a C, why dont you first start with fixing that problem and then focus on me.

BTW, I love the way you keep coming after me. It reminds me of wresteling shirtless in the park. Dont worry I will let you “pin me” tee hee hee
