Corporal punishment out of control

There’s simply no excuse for a grown man to repeatedly punch a high-school girl in the head, no matter how rude she was.

This kind of crap has got to stop!!

    Teachers are reviled enough…

There ought to be an escalating scale of serious consequences (fines, suspension, expulsion) for unruly students and their parents.

Teachers who do this ought to be fired and proscecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Is Korea a civilized country? Or is it the home of inadequate men who must beat women to have any self-respect? This is like a shadow of the Taliban…

I am grateful for the news, however bad, of my second home; but I sure hope they “straighten up and fly right”!!!

The upside to this story, if there CAN be an upside is that the teacher was promptly fired.

My understanding was that he was pissed off because the school hadn’t received her tuition payment, and that when he asked her where her money was, she answered him in a bit of a snide manner that her mother keeping money at the bank.

    TMC,

The teacher was not fired; he was relieved of his position (?짠??흹???쨈??흹). I think that means he is still a civil servant and still gets his salary, but is simply not assigned to a job. Anyway, whatever ?짠??흹???쨈??흹 means, many people on Korean Web sites are not satisfied, and are demanding that he be fired (?흸흸??쨈).

The name of the high school in Suwon where the man worked is Paldal Technical High School.

While we are on the subject of teachers, a sixth grade Korean boy I teach constantly rants about Korea’s greatness in all things. When I asked him where he heard the nonsense he was spouting he replied:

    “My teacher told me.”
