But then again, who needs ayatollahs when you’ve got the ICEC

lee_sabi_in_blackSpeaking of the morality Gestapo, guess who decided to shoot down Playboy model Lee Sabi’s “hair nudes”? That’s right — Korea’s very own Information Communication Ethics Committee! Many straight, sexually healthy young men across the Republic of Korea were eagerly awaiting the release of Lee Sabi’s full frontal shots, which would have been the first ever released in Korea. But it appears that their wait was in vain — the ICEC decided against the release of the pics, and get a load of this ruling:

The problematic “hair nudes” are of a strongly commercial character and and show too much. We judge that they are too sexual, and go against sexually moral ideas and customs.

Playboy goes against sexually moral ideas and customs? Makes you wonder whether these guys have ever hung around Cheongnyang-ni or Miya-ri at night (read about them when you’re not at work at the World Sex Guide: South Korea). Heck, makes me wonder if they live in the same country I do.

Anyway, Spice TV — Playboy’s Korean partner — will continue pressing this issue. Having the rights on the photos, they need to get the “hair nudes” OK’d here before they can start distributing them abroad; if they start releasing them abroad and they get re-imported back into Korea, it could create a legal mess.

The best that could be said of this is that since the Internet fascists require a god damned citizen number before you can see any of the pics (hair or no hair), I wouldn’t have been able to look at them, regardless of what the ICEC decided.

    Won Joon,

“Wow, Won Joon, you have attended the prestigous Dartmouth College?”- I should have formulated my question this way. I?쨈m not a Dartmouth alumni, I was only impressed. No correction of my “Sa-Bi”-sentence.
