The National Assembly FINALLY passed the Korea-Chile Free Trade Agreement (FTA) today, leaving Mongolia as the only nation in the WTO that has yet to sign an FTA with another country.
A plenary session of the National Assembly ratified the Korea-Chile Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Monday by a vote of 162 for, 71 against, and one abstention. It took four attempts to finally get the bill laid before a plenary session for a vote.
The vote was conducted through an open ballot, and legislators from agricultural districts did not physically block the vote as they had done in the past.
Park Kwan-yong, Speaker of the National Assembly, said after the vote count was announced, “The trials and tribulations were great, but we, too, have finally moved on to the age of openness.”
More on this as the news comes in.
