Nathan of The Argus — one of my favorite blogs, BTW — has moved his site over to Typepad. His new blog is looking good, and what better way to start off a new address than pointing us — the readers — in the direction of this Library of Congress photo exhibit, entitled The Empire That Was Russia. If you’ve got a pulse, check it out — we’re talking about 100 year-old COLOR photos taken throughout the now-defunct Russian Empire by Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii, photographer to the Tsar. I’ve yet to see anything like them — as Nathan points out:
I found them through a google search and it took me a while to realize that these images are nearly 100 years old because the colorization on them is fabulous. They actually look better than many color photos from the Soviet era.
Anyway, take a look at the pics, and be sure to visit Nathan’s new-and-improved blog.

Nice looking blog. Wish I had skills beyond what Typepad lays out for you to liven mine up. Ah well.
These photos are awesome! It’s unbelievable that they are from 100 years ago. Take a look and you won’t believe your eyes.
