Far Outliers has a great post on the nearly 450,000 ethnic Koreans who live in the former Soviet Union, mostly in the newly independent Central Asian states. It also contains a link to Koryo Saram: The Koreans of Central Asia, a website maintained by Steven Sunwoo Lee, a Fulbright Fellow to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (2001-2002) and a true cornucopia of information on, as the site name would suggest, Koreans in Central Asia. It has tons of documents for download (mostly in Russian, but with plenty of English material as well), almost all of which have been provided by Professor German Nikolaevich Kim, chair of the Korean Studies Department at Kazakhstan State University.
