This morning, I got an e-mail from Corey Richardson, the administrator of Area Studies Center, wondering if I had included a link to his site when I decided to “borrow” some of his artwork for my blog’s holiday template. In point of fact, I did not, which I confess was downright shameful. Not only is his site a valuable source of information, but its section on North Korean Propaganda Art includes a gallery with 45 scans of some of the best examples of socialist-realism on the ‘Net. A while back, the first time I decided to deck out the Marmot’s Hole in DPRK red, I mentioned the site above, and now, in hopes of making up for yesterday’s grievous error, I link to it again.
Oh, and while we’re on the topic of socialist realism, I found this painting below of Comrade Stalin over at What is Socialist Realism?. Anyway, I include it here because, well, I kinda like it, and it’s amazingly similar to my banner image.

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
I haven’t seen it yet, but apparently I scored me a CPSU banner from the 60s for Festivus.
