Yup, Korea’s role in the Great Game continues to grow. From the Korea Times:
South Korea and Kazakhstan agreed on Thursday to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the area of energy exploration, science and technology.
President Roh Moo-hyun and Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbaev also agreed to promote civilian exchange and trade and investment during a summit meeting held at Chong Wa Dae.
A little later:
The two leaders noted the importance of jointly exploring energy resources in Kazakhstan and Nazarbaev called on Korean companies to more actively take part in energy development and infrastructure construction projects in the Central Asian nation.
Hat’s off to MOFAT for knowing where their national interests lie. Why let the Russians, Chinese, and Americans dominate your energy supplies when you got the skills to play the game, too?
