(Stolen from the Hankyoreh)
I’m not sure if we can really call this thing “stealth,” but it looks pretty (and with warships, that counts for something, doesn’t it?), and supposedly has a lot of cool toys on board. The KT piece also talks about a number of the moves the ROK Navy is planning to make, so check it out if fighting ships are your thing.

This is most definetly a stealth-ship, “stealthing” a millitairy ship mainly consist of removing junk that is hanging of the ship such as: life boats, loading cranes and antennae or covering these items with plating and making the retratable. Dont expect this ship to be invisible to radar though, the radar-signature for a ship like this will be about the size of a fishing-boat.
Good work keeping up a blog on the Noko’s!
More info at GlobalSecurity.org. The KDX-II may be armed with a 150 km antiship cruise missile developed in the ROK.
Betcha this ship class will be capable of mixing it up with the JMSDF.

Tony
Tony - I’m not sure if these babies are built to counter the JMSDF, but the three Aegis-guided KDX-IIIs that should be rolling off the dockyards in 2008 are definately being built with a certain island neighbor in mind.
Still, I’m willing to bet the KDX-II’s better than anything the PLAN’s got in their blue water inventory.
They had a launched a similar boat last april that I mentioned:
Moonmu the Great
“Moonmu The Great”
“No-Dong” Missiles.
The Noko’s continue to be great comic relief in today’s ( not so very screwed up, think 1973 ) “screwed up”world.
