If you haven’t already, run, click, and jump over to Parapundit’s post on how China’s ever increasing oil consumption bodes ill for American anti-terrorism efforts. This should scare you:
The continued growth of the Chinese economic juggernaut promises to greatly increase the demand for oil. It is going to happen. The effect will be to increase the challenge we face from the Islamists. We need a response that will solve the problem. The Chinese dependence on oil also bodes well in another way with regard to our problems with Muslims: The Chinese, mindful of their own growing dependence on Middle Eastern oil, are going to become increasingly inclined to give the Arab oil states anything they want. Weapons? Weapons technology? The Chinese are going to be inclined to say yes to any requests coming from the Persian Gulf states. Our ability to convince the Chinese to refrain from proliferating dangerous technologies will consequently decline.
The Chinese have their own “Muslim” problems (which will increase as China becomes more involved in Central Asian affairs), so I’m still holding out hope that this will encourage some degree of responsibility. But China’s growing thirst for oil, combined with its seeming willingness to sell weapons and weapons technology to just about anybody, should be a major point of concern for American policy makers in the years ahead.

At least some one is thinking clearly! I have long said that not only China but India too must be refrained from developing their economies. We are talking about a combined 1/3 of the worlds population just within these two countries! With China’s thirst for economic freedom it does not bode well for Japan and other surrounding Asian coutries. India will also be a juggernaut with which our grand children will have to deal with. These 2 countries have no reason to want to be a “global partner” once they’ve achieved what they want economically. The saddest part of it is that our elites and politicians are letting them do it because they will have the money to cut and run and they’ll leave the rest of us here to fight it out!
