Infidel on Madame Chiang

Joseph over at Infidelworld posts on the recent passing - at 105 - of Soong Mei-ling, widow of late Chinese President Chiang Kai-shek. Here’s some of it:

Having read both Barbara Tuchman’s Stilwell and the American Experience in China, 1911-45 and Sterling Seagrave’s The Soong Dynasty, I have little respect for her opportunistic family. Soong Mei-ling and her brother kept Chiang in power, disgraced one of America’s best military professionals, marginalized the Communists (with whom Washington might have forged a working relationship), and plundered both America and Taiwan. If I still support the US-Taiwan alliance, it is not because of her demonic charms, but because a growing majority of indigenous Taiwanese have always, and continue to, want independence.
