Actually, Kim Il-sung was a pretty big mother, and from what I gather, so was Mao and former Emperor of Singapore Harry, woops, Kwan Yew Lee. But I guess Kim Jong-il and Deng Xiao-ping over compensate.

Nice pic, but this is one reader who pleads ignorance. Is there some explanation associated with the banner? One thing definitely confuses me and it is that the leader displayed is much taller than all the soldiers. I've been under the impression that just about all East Asian leaders are short, pudgy pukes. Of course, I'm assuming the pic is based on something real.

There are sculptures in DC-- large, burly, muscular ones-- that would look right at home in the sculpture gardens of the former East Berlin (I was there 10 days after the Wall came down!).

A buddy of mine calls those sculptures "Totalitarian Gothic."

As a Hoya, you doubtless know the ones I mean. They're all over the place, especially as you get closer to the Mall.

Hey, I made that banner in a PC-bang! What's wrong with a little Marxist-Leninist art to make the blog feel more like home?

I like it, but it makes me nervous since I'm always blogging from the public space of a PC-bahng. I tend to scroll past the image really fast, to get it off the screen. Still quite cool, though.
