Prince Roy over at PRC News links to a paper by UCLA’s Randall Peerenboom entitled Beyond Universalism and Relativism: The Evolving Debates about ‘Values in Asia’, concerning the ever evolving debate surrounding ‘Asian Values’ and human rights. As Prince Roy writes, “If you have any interest at all in China’s human rights situation, you owe it to yourself to read this paper.” I haven’t finished reading it yet, but what I have read so far is both fascinating and though-provoking - I suggest you download the paper yourself and give it a good look over.

I’d just like to add that though I posted the link over in PRC News, Prof. Peerenboom’s paper is of value to anyone interested in the Asian human rights debate, not just as it pertains to China.
