Well down here in Pusan, my buddy, on a lark, decided to call one of those massage place numbers he found on the ground while he was going home one night/morning. Apparently, his Korean was passable, passable enough to approximate a drunk ajoshi. Well, at the appointed place and time, the 'masseuse' arrived only to be shocked by the fact that the customer was not Korean. She told him that she couldn't provide the regular 'service', but could give him a regular massage instead. This did not please my buddy. Not to be deterred, he suggested that the 'masseuse' just strip and gyrate and such (his words) while he 'satisfied' himself. There would be no touching or residuals with which to deal. She refused saying something about that being against 'the rules.' She excused herself, but not before she asked for taxi fare.

No, I didn't get laid, but could've according to my buddy. Not to brag or anything, but there are other opportunities with younger females in Korea. The experience was great from a learning about Korea standpoint and I played along as best I could. Besides, ny associate had the better looking one.

Once in, he paid the "booking" guy W40,000 and he set us up with two bored housewives. Mine kept whinging about her bankrupt pharmacist husband.
Sounds pretty hellish. I hope you at least got layed for your trouble.

And "from what I've been told," whiteboys like myself have no problem whatsoever getting access (and "service") from most of Korea's dens of inequities, and truth be told, I'm sure if you keep a low enough profile and go at the right hours, the hard working girls in Chongnyangni and Miyari won't object too much to taking your 60,000 won. The people they are objecting to are the guest workers - and while one of my coworkers rightly points out that this is not quite a "get in the back to the bus" issue, it does reveal certain ugly social attitudes towards Third World laborers (who would otherwise be known as "immigrants" if Korea had anything resembling a just and rational immigrational policy).

I forgot to mention that leaves plenty of other types of establishments available for the thrill-seeking foreigner. The key is visibility - if too many Korean men see "AIDS-carrying" foreigners enter an establishment the word will spread. Tea home delivery services, dark places like barber shops, and Turkish baths (by whatever name) welcome foreigners with open arms, or so I've heard.

And just so you don't think it's the men having all the fun, they have host clubs and over 30 clubs for the ladies (and probably other stuff I don't know about). A Korean associate once took me to a club near Kangnam Bus Terminal and had a tough time getting me in ("but, he's a nice miguk"). Once in, he paid the "booking" guy W40,000 and he set us up with two bored housewives. Mine kept whinging about her bankrupt pharmacist husband.
