More missile crap / Yongbyon activity stops

The Norks continue to waste the South Koreans’ money. This, from Yahoo! News:

North Korea has been using Russian technology in developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching any target in the continental United States, an administration official said Thursday.
The official, asking not to be identified, estimated the potential range at 9,400 miles. The distance from Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, to San Francisco is about 5,500 miles.
In theory at least, the new missile could strike any target on U.S. soil, a potential that becomes all the more ominous if Pyongyang is able to cap the rocket with a nuclear warhead, the official said.

I’ll believe it [this report] when they [the North Koreans] test it [their new missile]. And even then, it doesn’t make the North Koreans anymore fearsome - it just makes them a bigger target. And to alter slightly something I’ve said many times before, you can’t eat a long range missile, no matter where it’s aimed.

On a (perhaps) brighter note. the North Koreans have apparently ceased their reprocessing activities at Yongbyon. Also from Yahoo! News:

Plutonium reprocessing activity at a key North Korean site has apparently ceased, U.S. officials said Thursday.
It is unclear why the North Koreans stopped work at their reprocessing plant at Yongbyon, the officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
Presumably, they either chose to stop or had technical problems at the plant. Unless something broke, the plant could be restarted at any time.

Geez, why doesn’t anyone put their name down on record anymore?
