Chinese negotiator says US biggest obstacle to nuclear solution

Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is in Manilla accompanying Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Wu Bangguo for the Fourth General Assembly of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (and in case your were wondering, no, I didn’t know the English terms for either Wu’s title or the name of the conference, both of which are so much more easily rendered in Korean), said that American policy towards North Korea was the biggest impediment to finding a peaceful solution to the North Korean nuclear crisis, according to this small report by KBS. Wang also said that the US must make clearer its position towards the North.

The US position needs clarification? What is so hard about understanding the US’s position? Nuclear weapons cannot and will not be tolerated on the Korean Peninsula. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

No argument there, although I think the Wang was referring to how we are going to ensure that the no-tolerance policy is enforced.
